ARTIST STATEMENT

My creative process takes shape through reflection and openness to transformation. I work both intuitively and with elements drawn from observation, allowing each piece to evolve organically. Inspiration emerges from the interplay of motion and stillness, the restorative power of music, poetry, and nature, and the impressions and rhythms of the many places I have lived and traveled.

In my work, seemingly unrelated elements come together - a fluid reorganization of reality that gives form to thoughts, memories, and sensations. Gestural marks, layered textures, and an intuitive use of color evoke movement, moments of repose, continuity of experience, and human connection. I hope each piece carries that exploration into a dialogue with the viewer, inviting personal responses and discoveries.

BIO

Born in Athens, Greece, Nikki grew up moving across her native land. This life in motion - shaping both her outlook and her art - continued when she spent more than a decade in England before eventually settling in California.

Having trained as an economist in Greece and England, Nikki eventually turned fully to art, following a path that had always been a central part of her life. Her work navigates the space between abstraction and realism, layering textures and forms that reflect the cultural landscapes she has experienced and the harmonies she observes in nature. Long based in the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area, Nikki works in oil, cold wax, acrylic, charcoal, collage, and photography, exploring the subtleties of perception and reality. Her works are held in private collections across Europe and the United States.
